Most of Anime sucks. It's foolish to expect something that comes out in such large quantity to have any consistency whatsoever. Not that the good stuff is necessarily that good, of course. I'd say that the good stuf is at least watchable, if not enjoyable, but good luck trying to find them. You're most likely just going to get DBZ or its equivalent.

Did you know that the first Anime ever created in Japan was supposed to be shown after they conquered US and it'll show the glory Japanese empire and whatnot? Of course, that Anime got canceled after losing the war. Losing the war actually sparked the animation industry because after they lost the war a bunch of bitter Japanese had nothing better to do than to make Anime about how they could've beaten US or how great Japan was.

You want to see bitter? There's this manga (comic book) called the Silent Fleet, it's about this Japanese guy who hijacked a US nuclear submarine and then declared war of US, and then he destroyed the Atlantic Fleet by himself (I might add, the Atlantic Fleet had more ships than he had in torpedoes and he didn't use nukes because he can blow up 3 battleships with one torpedo). And, in a reverse of what happened in WW2, Ameicans had this secret super duper battleship George Washington (ala Battleship Yamato in WW2) and he rammed it with his sub head-on and survived to show that Amercans dumb warships are no match for the Japanese even if he's not using torpedoes. Along the way he also killed this captain who was going to be the next US president in a sub battle.

Then he landed on NY Harbor and it turned out he was actually Jesus. Americans realized their foolishness for attacking Jesus's submarine and ask for his forgivance. And then some American sniper hired by the US president killed him anyway so Americans killed Jesus, and the story ends. This book was recognized as an excellent patriotic piece of literature. I mean, I know people can be bitter about losing wars and stuff, but this kind of blatant shameless self plug is pretty sad.
