Barg,

Al-Queda beleives an islamic theocracy is the best form of government. And they act to try and make that a reality. I just happen to believe that people will, eventually, choose the type of government they can live with. Some people just want to have a home and feed their family.

In forcing the Iraqis to adopt our form of government by invading their soil and occupying them is no different than what Osama Bin Laden does.

Who gives Bush the right to decide what kind of ruler and government Iraq should have? How fucking arrogant is that?

I really don't know how to more clearly state this. If the poor oppressed people of Iraq needed to change things, they should have bumrushed Baghdad and took Saddam out. It's nothing new Barg. People have been rising up and doing since we started recording history. Shit, the French did it.

Now, the US is stuck in a quagmire and by the looks of things right now, will either be another islamic theocracy or be plunged into brutal civil war. The ONLY way I see none of these things occuring is if the US permanently occupies Iraq with a force the current size or larger. And in this scenario, we will continually read about our soldiers being picked off every other day. Iraq will become the radical islamic's Disneyland. Come on in, pick off a few Americans and be assured your place next to Allah.

Perhaps, if Bush wasn't so trigger happy and so focused on raising his approval numbers in an election year, the revolution that is brewing, but not quite there yet, would emerge in Iran. And then, maybe the Iraqis would see and hear how much better things are and rise up and kick Saddam's sanction-weakened ass.

Look at yourself Barg. I know you have good intentions but supporting this "transformation by force" is tantamount to supporting a crusade against Islam. It's just fucking arrogant as hell and downright demeaning to decide what is right for a nation of adults.

Bush knew this. That's why he misled the world with the spectre of "formidable WMD" and "ties to El-Queda". He couldn't just come right out and say "we don't have real solid evidence that he has a massive WMD program and we can't really draw a solid connection to Bin Laden, but he is a bastard and he needs to go" Do you know why Barg? Because people who aren't like you, who were on the fence about the whole pre-emptive Iraq invasion thing would have called bullshit and fucked up his agenda.

And another thing Barg. I don't believe Bush gives a rat's ass about the common Iraqi's pursuit of happiness. I think he is more concerned with posturing himself to get re-elected.

I hope you understand where I am coming from. I haven't changed my stance ever. I was always against this, even before it started. There is no contradiction. In fact, the only contradiction I can see is you calling yourself a liberal democrat. I haven't seen one inkling of evidence to back that up. Help me out please. What is your view on the following:

Civil Liberties
School vouchers
Abortion
Environment
Affirmative Action
Welfare
Regressive taxation
Trickle-down economics

I guess we can start with that.
