Ok im a glutton for punishment.

They are not the same thing. Bush broke a law as a citizen. All people in the US at any given time are expected to obey its laws citizen or not. Natural born citizens dont utter any oaths to uphold the law.

Now in Clintons case he was not acting as a citizen nor your average officer of the court or public servant. He was sworn not only to obey the laws but to uphold them. That means to make sure that others dont break them and that they are enforced when broken.

He wasnt caught jay walking or even drunk driving. He was caught perjuring himself in a federal court. Again he was under oath to tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The expectation of the public that all witnesses testify truthfully under oath is paramount to our civilizations rule of law. The expectation that the President of the United States do so is exponentially greater. For the President to break this law which is the basis of our crimal and civil justice system is the ultimate slap in the face to "no man is above the law".

To put it in as simple of analogy as I can for you. When im sitting around drinking beers with my friends I tend to use colorful language quite often, Usually I am dressed shorts and flip flops. When I go to work I am held to a higher standard of conduct. I dress in business attire and I dont use that language with my customers or my co-workers. I also dont go and take a shit on my bosses paperwork.

Clinton lying under oath while President of the United States is like him taking a shit on the constitution.

When you go to work your held to a higher standard. When you hold government office you are held to a higher standard. when you are President of the United States you are held to the highest standard.

I know your not a simpleton so you must see if the difference.
