I'm not studing ME history in school or anything. I do follow the news a bit and I read a novel that was set in the period of the egyptian revolution, had some background about the Shah and the revolution. I'd love to learn more though. Got any book recommendations?

I thought the guys threatening to strike weren't clerics but were government functionaries. Like the Prime Minister. Or is everyone in a government office a cleric?

What do the reformists want to reform? I had assumed they wanted to limit the control the GC has over who gets to run for office or limit the role of religion in government or something.

At least it isn't outright revolution at this point and the violence of the past. Hopefully it won't come to that.
